2 Problems - Network-Inventory
#1
Hello all,
i tried to use Fusioninventory in our infrastructure with >2000 Computer, ~200 Switches, ~200 Server.

My first try is to scan the network for getting all switches and their SNMP-Informations. And here i´ve got big problems:
I have this Problems with stable and beta Releases!

Problem #1:
- I do an network scan first time. All works fine and FI find the most of the switches. The most switches are in the table "unknown devices". I do an Network-Import with them
- I do an snmp-network scan. I have than the SNMP-Informations of all switches, except our cisco 3550 Switches. I have to give them the correct SNMP-model manually. After that, i got the most informations i need.
- Now the network-devices are in the section "Network". But now there comes the big problem. To get an connection to clients or to switches, i have to do an network-scan one more time. He scans all the switches as new switches and put it into "unknown devices" and he builds the connection to this duplicates. To get an correct network-view, i have to import these duplicates. This couldn´t be correct.

What have i to do, that FusionInventory will not scan all these switches as unknown devices?!

Problem #2:
- If i do an network scan one more time, it doesn´t work anymore. All my agents can do an network-scan once per time. For any other network scan, i have to take an other agent. SNMP is working.
Firstly i get the information "SNMP equipment definition isn't up to date on agent. For the next run, it will get new version from server.". So i restart the scan and than happens nothing. It starts, but it doesn´t go "active".

That is what my agent-log shows:
Quote:[Mon Nov 5 08:36:43 2012][info] [http server] HTTPD service started at http://localhost:62354

That´s what my server says about my agent:
Quote:ersion : INVENTORY: v2.2.6-1
NETDISCOVERY: 2.2.0
SNMPQUERY: 2.2.0
Useragent : FusionInventory-Agent_v2.2.6-1 Last contact : 05-11-2012 10:14

One question: Is there an chance, to do an SNMP-Scan for our servers? I can scan them in the network, but after Computer-Import, there is no chance to do an snmp-scan.

I tested both with last stable and both 2.0 Beta.

I hope you can help me.
If anything is unknowable, just write it down here. I will try to explain it.

Best regards

Ok. Here is an update.

At the moment i have "just" one Problem.

I do an networkscan - all works fine. I do an import of the unknown devices (mostly cisco 3550).

I do an SNMP-Networkscan and than there is an problem. The connection between two switches doesn´t work. Instead of making an update of the existing model, fusioninventory take them as "New unknown devices". So the old switches have an connection to an unknown device instead of a other existing switch-.-

Does anyone have an idea?

Have you the CDP activated in the configuration of your switches?

Yes.
And the connection between the switches is working, just not correct Smile

Switch A
Switch B

Switch A has physical connection to Switch B.

After an new Scan, in fusioninventory is the following connection.

Switch A -> Switch B2 (Duplicate of Switch B in unknown devices)
