Fusioninventory for GLPI english documentation
#1
Hi,

I'm new with Fusioninventory and i'm trying to set it up. At this moment i have a running GLPI 0.72.21 + Tracker 2.1.3 server (the only agent is running on this server too), however i've never discovered or inventoried anything so there's not previous data.

I want to know what i have to do for migrating from this situation to GLPI + Fusioninventory. I was looking for english documentation at wiki but every topic about installation and configuration returns me a 404 error.

Any help please?

Thanks in advance.

Yes documentation is in writing mode :p

1/ Delete Tracker folder
2/ extract fusioninventory plugin.
3/ connect to GLPI and in Administration > plugins, install FusionInventory
3/ Activate FusionInventory (in Administration > plugins)
4/ it's ok, you can clean Tracker (in Administration > plugins)

Thanks a lot!! Now I have a functional Fusioninventory on my server that "replaced" Tracker plugin.

But I need to know how to get started. I don't know how to use fusioninventory to discover and inventory devices (SNMP enabled), computers... in my environment. I've already installed the agent on the same server and, when I ran fusioninventory-agent command I got this:

[info] PROLOG_FREQ has been set: 24
[info] Module FusionInventory::Agent::Task::OcsDeploy is not installed.
[info] Module FusionInventory::Agent::Task::SNMPQuery is not installed.
[info] Module FusionInventory::Agent::Task::NetDiscovery is not installed.

And a new row with the agent appeared in Agent Configuration.

According to what I used to do with the Tracker, I've added a new IP Range and associated it with the only agent that I have but I don't know how to start discovering devices.

What are the next steps now?

you must have SNMPQuery and NetDiscovery modules, so you must install them like for agent, you can download them here : http://search.cpan.org/~fusinv/

You must put server adress to agent : http://yourip/glpi/plugins/fusioninventory/front/plugin_fusioninventory.communication.php

OK I've installed both modules (I'm still getting a warning about OCSDeploy but I don't need it at thsi moment) but when I select "Device discovery" or "Inventory" action i get "Agent(s) unavailable" after a few seconds.

Is there any daemon or program that i have to run?
How can I discover and inventory the IP range I've created?

On the other hand, I've installed fusioninventory-agent on a Windows 7 computer and I can send inventory info to my OCSInventory Server (by using the proper URL https://myserver/ocsinventory) but i get nothing if i use fusioninventory server URL instead (http:/myserver/glpi/plugins/fusioninventory/front/plugin_fusioninventory.communication.php)

How can I get any computer inventory trhough fusioninventory-agent?

Thanks a lot again.

It works!!

But ... now I have the agent available and I can choose between "Inventory" or "Device discover", however whatever I select only permit me to wake up the agent (which it's already awake). I see agent's computer IP addresses but I have nothing to do.

So, how can i discover devices? With Tracker, I did it by running tracker_agent.pl. Later, at "Information about discoverd devices" I could see discovered devices. Is ther anything similar in Fusioninventory?

I have this problem.

I install
1- glpi - 0.72.4 (CentOS5.5)
+ fusioninventory plugin:
2/ extract fusioninventory plugin.
#chown -hR apache:apache ./fusioninventory
3/ connect to GLPI and in Administration > plugins, install FusionInventory
3/ Activate FusionInventory (in Administration > plugins)

2- FusionAgent 2.1.5 (WindowsXP) connect to:
http://myserver/glpi/plugins/fusioninventory/front/plugin_fusioninventory.communication.php
(myserver = 192.168.1.10)

3- I run C:\Program Files\FusionInventory-Agent\perl\bin>perl fusioninventory-agent --server=http://192.168.1.10/glpi/plugins/fusioninventory/front/plugin_fusioninventory.communication.php
I
4- I see Discovering my PC WinXP
5- I add my PC to type "Computer" and run "Import"
6- I run "inventory" my PC - but in GLPI all field is empty
If i run agent with parameter server=myserver - my OCS is inventored my PC.
But OCS not in UTF-8 (my lang Russian-Cyrillic) and my software is "????"
And I do not want to use OCS.

what I did wrong?
Do I need an agent on the server?

Sorry I find answer - http://forum.fusioninventory.org/viewtopic.php?id=90

I see - the agent send info for GLPI in UTF-8
but agent send info for OCS in ISO-8859-1.
where can I get patches or change parameter for UTF-8?
when (version) it developed a new Fusion agent with inventory of GLPI?

It's in developement, and not works good for the moment.

It's on forge or github or gitourious.
There is 4 plugins :
* fusioninventory (core plugin)
* fusinvsnmp (SNMP part for discovery and inventory)
* fusinvinventory (to put local inventory - computer inventory - directly to GLPI and bye bye OCS Server)
* fusinvdeploy (software deployment tool in GLPI)

So many bugs, not work all .. so DEV version ^^

Ok.
I use GLPI 0.72.4.
I install 4 plugins.
I run "Discover" and "Inventore". Discover - Ok.
"Inventore" - not ok - all fields of myPC - is empty.
Plugin fusinvinventory - not work?

I run WinXP fusion-agent with parameter --local --html
and my cyrillic hardwares&softwares is good.
HTML inventory page encode is UTF-8. Ok.

If I inventored myPC with GLPI -
in log agent [debug] $VAR1 = '<?xml version=\'1.0\' encoding=\'UTF-8\'?> - it`s Ok
/But all fields - empty/

If I inventored myPC with OCS -
in log agent [debug] $VAR1 = '<?xml version=\'1.0\' encoding=\'ISO-8859-1\'?> - it`s not good.
Fields myPC with cyrillic hardwares&softwares - no good...
I see http://fusioninventory.org/wordpress/screenshots/ -Cyrillic screenshot -Ok

I tried to use different versions fusion-agent and fusion-glpi-plugins.
My brain explodes.
Please howto install step by step.

P.S. i list wiki and doc

Install in first : fusioninventory

and after in order you want other (fusinvdeploy, fusinvsnmp, fusinvinventory).

So Some code not work on installation (I must verify it), I break often DB schama and it's very instable for the moment.

This night, I will test installations to be sure it can be used tomorow Big Grin

I was able to install "devel" version for GLPI-0.78!
But in menu "Runing jobs" - this error: Unknown column 'glpi_plugin_fusioninventory_taskjobs.status' in 'field list'
and my inventored PC - very little data. Less than in the OCS.

Please, tell me - where registered bugs.

It's here : http://forge.fusioninventory.org/project...lpi/issues

But there is a ticket (big) for job writing code and not closed Wink

So in the forum, it's ok or add a message in ticket of task Wink

Oh, yes it's same.

If your run agent in daemon/service, you can wake agent directly from GLPI interface.
